SMS Opt-In Process
Last updated: February 28, 2026
This page describes how Good Code Development ("Good Code," "we," "us," or "our") obtains, records, and maintains consent from individuals who wish to receive transactional text messages through our Good Code Account Notifications program.
How Consent Is Collected
Consent to receive text messages is collected at the point of sale (POS) during an in-person transaction. When a customer provides their phone number, they are presented with a clear opt-in disclosure and must affirmatively consent before any messages are sent.
Consent may be collected through one of the following methods:
- Digital checkbox — the customer checks a clearly labeled consent box on a digital form or POS terminal screen before completing their transaction
- Verbal confirmation — the customer verbally agrees to receive text messages after the opt-in disclosure is read to them, and a staff member records the verbal consent in the system
Opt-In Disclosure
At the time of consent, the customer is presented with or read the following disclosure:
"By providing your phone number, you consent to receive account-related text messages from Good Code, including order confirmations, appointment reminders, and service updates. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy at goodcode.works/privacy and SMS Terms at goodcode.works/terms-sms."
Consent Records
When a customer opts in to receive text messages, we store a consent record that includes the following information:
- The customer's phone number
- The date and time consent was given (timestamp)
- The method of consent (digital checkbox or verbal confirmation noted by staff)
- The location or POS terminal where consent was collected
Consent records are retained and available for audit to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations and carrier requirements.
Consent Is Voluntary
Consent to receive text messages is not required as a condition of purchase. Customers may complete their transactions without opting in to SMS notifications. Declining to receive text messages will not affect the customer's ability to purchase goods or services.
Revoking Consent
Customers may revoke their consent at any time by replying STOP to any text message. Upon opting out, the customer will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts will be sent. Customers may also contact us at support@goodcode.works to request removal from the program.
